Learn To Row At Mersey
L2R At Mersey

We organise Learn2Row courses between spring and autumn.

If you would like to be added to our waiting list please email your name, email address and mobile phone number to:

learn2row@merseyrc.com

A L2R course is the ideal way to get introduced to rowing, get to know our club and the very sociable members!

The learn to row program at Mersey Rowing Club consists of:

At least one session on the rowing machine where you will learn the correct rowing technique.

From there on you will then transfer your new knowledge into the training boats which are very stable unlike racing boats. This will allow you to use your new technique on the water in a stable boat. The first session will be a 'dry' session using the club's rowing machines. Our qualified coaches will teach good posture and technique which are essential in rowing.

As you become proficient and finish the course you will be encouraged to integrated into the appropriate squad should you wish to take your rowing to the next level or continue to row on a more social level.

As an addition to the learn to row course capsize drills will be arranged to aid members and ensure your safety should this ever occur. Once in a squad you will be able to row as part of a competitive crew, on a recreational basis or even learn how to scull (single person boat).

The cost of the learn to row course is £45,- and includes expert coaching and an introduction to the sport of rowing. We hope that we will see you soon!

Training & Development:

Once you have completed the learn to row course members are then given an option for how they would like to continue their membership. The men and women captains will be able to give you more information.

Location and Club Background:

Our boathouse is located in Queen's Dock and we have a wonderful 1.8km stretch of water to row on, a map of the docks where rowing is permitted can be found under: Membership > Safety water map
